Last Service in Seattle for the Rev. Stephanie Parker 2016-06-19

"A toddler that I have known from birth just suddenly came up these big wide marble stairs of the chancel and walked up to me up as I was going to the altar from my presider chair for the post communion prayer and held his arms up for me to hold him.  I can think of no lovelier goodbye than this.  See you soon! Stephanie"

                                              NEWS RELEASE 2016-05-26

       The Rev. Stephanie Eve Parker

On May 18, 2016, members of the

Discernment Committee met with the

Vestry to give their committee report and their recommendation of the candidate

for the next Rector of Christ Church.

The vestry accepted the recommendation with excitement.

The Reverend Stephanie Eve Parker is elated to have been called as Rector of Christ Church and received the news with great joy and eagerness.  She comes to us from Seattle, Washington where she serves as the rector of St. Stephens Episcopal Church.  Prior to that, she has served in various sized churches in California, Georgia, and Washington DC.  In her own words she wrote to the Discernment Committee: "I do believe that my particular strengths in ministry and my experience would be a good compliment to (Christ Church's) strengths as a community.  My joy in preaching, passion for lay ministry development and Spiritual Formation, as well as my desire to think creatively and entrepreneurially about the future might make us good partners for doing God's work in the world, and, as Presiding Bishop Curry says, claiming a place in the Jesus Movement!"

Nestled in the majestic Blue Ridge mountains, we

are a Christian community actively engaged

in worshiping God, proclaiming the Gospel, and

serving Christ in our community and our world.

We are a welcoming and hospitable church family

with open hearts and inquisitive minds.

We gather for worship, for study, fellowship, and

prayer.  We are a loving and supportive church

family sharing our joys and our sorrows.

It is with great expectation that we worship

and we warmly invite you to join us.

We are located in Sparta, NC as a church of the

Diocese of Western North Carolina of the

Episcopal Church.

May the peace of the Lord be always with you.
