Who We Are Members of Christ Church feel like a people on a spiritual journey out of which come good works like outreach and caring for others. We share a sense of family, and a feeling that people care about us and we feel welcomed. Our parishioners are predominantly from other locations, coming to a place of quiet and beauty that we never want to leave, and from other denominations, who have come to love the traditional, liturgical Episcopal Eucharist.
There is an active discussion group on Wednesday evenings, as well as Tuesday morning healing service and Wednesday Evening Prayer. Spiritual education is a priority for both children and adults, with the Youth and Adult Formation Sunday School classes well attended.
We avidly support our Outreach Ministry, often combining our resources with other local churches in the local Ministerium to bring comfort and assistance to "the least of these."
If you ask us where we would like the church to be in five years, we would like a deeper spiritual relationship with God and one another and we believe that this translates into a deepr commitment to sharing our gifts with our neighbors. This is our motivating vision.
Located near Sparta in Alleghany County, at the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we share an area of natural beauty and consider this area to be a nearly perfect combination of small town and rural life, rich in the arts, outdoor recreational opportunites and a friendly community.
We hope that you will come and join us for worship for, as we sing every Sunday, "Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place."
